Sam Goldsmith took delivery of his 1949 Chevrolet 3100 during this year's fall Goodguys event in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he immediately harnessed the power of the Chevrolet Performance LS376/480 crate engine* under the hood.

"It was amazing how much power the thing's got with very little effort," he said during the Speedway Motors Southwest Nationals.

Goldsmith lives in Tucson and his builder, Ryan Close, hauled the truck from his Greenville, South Carolina-based Young at Heart Customs to the Goodguys finale. Goldsmith's wife has an LS-swapped 1948 Chevrolet pickup, and as a result Sam also decided to get his own classic Chevy, enlisting Close's help for the build.

"I've always loved this particular body style, it just appeals to me," Goldsmith said. "It's just iconic."

Goldsmith's truck features a Connect & Cruise Crate Powertrain System, with the LS376/480 engine mated to a SuperMatic 4L70-E four-speed automatic transmission. The 6.2L power plant is based on the traditional LS3,* but utilizes an upgraded Hot Cam to help produce 495 horsepower and 473 lb.-ft. of torque.

We spent some time with Goldsmith and Close during the show, and now have made a couple of our favorite images of their Lunar Rock-painted build, known as "Georgia," into wallpaper downloads.

High-resolution desktop and mobile images of the truck set against the expansive Arizona desert are available below.
