In 2005, Kyle Busch scored his first career NASCAR Cup Series win at Auto Club Speedway as a member of Team Chevy. On Sunday, Busch took the checkered flag in the final race on the Fontana, California, speedplant's two-mile configuration, again behind the wheel of a Chevrolet.

Kyle Busch (8) on his way to scoring his 61st career NASCAR Cup Series victory on Sunday at Auto Club Speedway.

Busch led 27 laps in his No. 8 Richard Childress Racing (RCR) Camaro ZL1, taking the top spot in the Pala Casino 400 with 21 circuits remaining. His pit crew provided flawless execution on the race's final green-flag pit stop to put him in winning position, and after regaining the lead for the final time, the two-time champion cruised to the race win by 2.998 seconds.

The victory came in Busch's second start with RCR and marked the 19th consecutive season in which he has won a race – an all-time record. Busch's win was also his fifth at Auto Club Speedway and the 61st of career, both tops among active drivers.

Busch celebrates with his team in victory Lane.

"I can't thank Richard and Judy (Childress) enough," Busch said. "I can't thank Austin (Dillon) enough for calling me and getting me this opportunity to be able to come over here to RCR; and be a part of Chevrolet and be able to race this Lucas Oil Camaro today.

"The guys did a great job, Randall (Burnett, crew chief), everybody that has worked so hard during the off-season. We've done a lot of sim stuff; we've done a lot of testing in general just with trying to get up to speed, systems and all that sort of stuff. But man, there's nothing more rewarding than being able to go to Victory Lane."

Ross Chastain finished third after leading 91 laps.

On Sunday, Team Chevy drivers took the top-four finishing positions at Auto Club Speedway for the second consecutive season. Chase Elliott claimed the runner-up spot, Ross Chastain came home third after leading a race-high 91 laps and winning the race's first two stages, and Daniel Suarez finished fourth. In addition, Alex Bowman and Austin Dillon finished eighth and ninth, respectively, to give Chevrolet six of the top-10.

Chevrolet leads the series with 17 overall wins at Auto Club Speedway and the Bowtie Brand has scored three consecutive triumphs at the facility. Chevrolet now has also won the first two races of the 2023 season, extending the manufacturer's record to 835 total wins in NASCAR's premier series.

As a member of Teamy Chevy, Busch is poised to add to his checkered flag total.

Auto Club Speedway is set to soon become a short track, and Busch provided its original configuration with a fitting sendoff. He also put all of NASCAR on notice that he and RCR are going to contend for race wins all season long.
