Danny Short's 1975 Chevrolet C20 Scottsdale Camper Special not only features modern LS power, he put the whole powertrain together himself. And he did so using Chevrolet Performance, GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco components.

"I've always been a GM guy, so I know that GM makes a good product and I like their performance line," Short said during the C10 Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway in May.

The build features a 6.0L LS block, LS3 cylinder heads and an LS-series camshaft, along with all-GM accessories. The engine is mated to a 4L80-E transmission, and Short modeled the entire setup after a Chevrolet Performance Connect & Cruise Crate Powertrain System. To do so he also utilized the Bowtie's 4L80-E transmission controller and LS3 engine control module.

Short owns Danny's Automotive in Lubbock, Texas, and enjoys taking on a variety of creative builds like this dually. However, he wanted to be sure to use factory parts for their aesthetic value, reliable reputation and availability. Plus, they simply perform well.

"I thought, let's just build something that'll make good power," Short said. "A 6.0 with square-port heads makes plenty."

Today, we've made a shot of the powerful truck into a wallpaper download. High-resolution desktop and mobile images are available below.
