Team Chevy driver Kyle Larson made North Wilkesboro Speedway his personal playground in Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race.

Larson dominated the first Cup Series event at the track since 1996, leading 145 of 200 laps in the non-points race on the historic 0.625-mile oval in Wilkes County, North Carolina, en route to a $1,000,000 payday.

Larson and his Hendrick Motorsports No. 5 Camaro ZL1 team initially struggled to find pace on the track's worn-out surface during the weekend, leading to a 16th-place starting position. 

However, once the race got underway, a strategy call by crew chief Cliff Daniels changed the event's complexion when he elected to change four tires during an early caution period. Larson incurred a speeding penalty during the stop, relegating him to the rear for the restart. 

But then the No. 5 car came alive.

Larson stormed through the field on fresh rubber and took the lead for the first time on Lap 55. He went on to lead all but one of the race's remaining circuits and took the victory by 4.537 seconds over second place.

"I can't even tell you what it means," Larson said on the frontstretch after the race. "This is my third All-Star win and my third different track. In a historical place like this, you guys and the crowd made this weekend so awesome. We could feel the atmosphere all weekend.

"So much fun there. That was an old-school whipping for sure."

Larson's other All-Star wins came at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2019 and Texas Motor Speedway in 2021, and he is now tied with Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt for the second-most wins in the event.

Larson's victory also extended Hendrick Motorsports' All-Star win record to a series-leading 11, and gave Chevrolet its 21st All-Star triumph – leading all manufacturers.

On Sunday, Chevrolet drivers took four of the top-10 finishing positions with Chase Elliott finishing fifth, Daniel Suarez seventh and Erik Jones coming home in the eighth spot. Suarez started on pole and led a total of 55 laps, meaning Chevrolet was out front for the entirety of the race.

Larson also swept the weekend at North Wilkesboro, winning Sunday's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Tyson 250 in the Spire Motorsports No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado RST.

As North Wilkesboro finds a new lease on life, Kyle Larson and Chevrolet have immediately put their stamp on its return.
