A warm, sunny weekend at the New York State Fairgrounds was host to this year’s Syracuse Nationals.

This 1970 Chevelle SS was among the numerous Chevrolet and GM vehicles that descended on the New York State Fairgrounds on the third weekend in July.

All sporting a vintage of 1999 or older, several thousand cars and trucks from around the country made the journey to New York in mid-July. The show featured complete custom builds, bone-stock vehicles, and everything in between.

Chevrolet Performance also featured a display of its own, this year swapping out the traditionally shown 1967 C10 for an SP502/605 crate engine*-powered 1969 Chevelle. It garnered event-wide attention when a group of kids asked to start it so they could hear it run. The rumble of the engine across the fairgrounds attracted quite the crowd.

However, there was action apart from the more than 100 vendors that came to the show. Under blue Syracuse skies, live music, an auction and an engine giveaway were all on the agenda.

The Chevrolet Performance display attracted crowds throughout the weekend in Syracuse.

Eagle Chevrolet generously donated the LS376/480 crate engine* to be raffled off to one of the show’s patrons during the closing ceremony Sunday afternoon. The recipients were a couple local to the area who were thrilled to have won.

Also part of the action was the Syracuse Signature Showcase, which featured 16 standout builds competing for the Winfield Award and $10,000. Patrons who wanted to beat the heat could view these cars on display in the 133,000 sq-ft Expo Building.

A fan-built Bumblebee Camaro by Brian Barker from Niverville, New York, was a hit for those who are fans of sensational Chevrolet vehicles. It was a new addition to the Syracuse Nationals lineup this year and a favorite with the youngest generation of performance enthusiasts.

This brilliant custom 1948 Cadillac was among the many highlights at the 2024 Syracuse Nationals.

Perfect weather, thousands of show cars and contagious fan enthusiasm made this year’s Syracuse Nationals one for the books.
