AJ Meadows’ 1954 Bel Air could be the definition of “restomod.” The classic Chevrolet, still covered in its original blue paint, sits on an aftermarket Roadster Shop chassis, sports a modern interior and is powered by a Chevrolet Performance LT4 crate engine.*
All of that made the car a perfect vehicle for the 2023 edition of HOT ROD Power Tour. Performance and reliability are both important during the yearly event.
“With the arrival of the LT and the aftermarket support, it's nice to kind of stay with the times,” Meadows said during last summer’s Power Tour stop at zMax Dragway near Charlotte, North Carolina. “This is my first LT swap and I’ll probably do more.”
The Bel Air’s LT4 crate engine, capable of 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, offers an interesting contrast between 21st-century technology and the car’s 1950s style.
Today, we’ve made an image of the LT4 in the engine bay into a Wallpaper Wednesday download. High-resolution desktop and mobile images are available below.
