Each October, the NASCAR schedule shifts to Charlotte Motor Speedway and the stock-car industry’s home base in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. But while team members may get sleep in their own beds, the race weekend is never without stress.

The NASCAR events at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval are always a spectacle.

The racetrack in Concord, North Carolina, transforms into the daunting Charlotte Roval and serves as the Round of 12 elimination race in both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs. Plus, this year the Roval utilized a brand-new 17-turn, 2.28-mile layout. That meant drivers and turns had to learn on the fly.

In Sunday’s Cup Series race, Team Chevy’s Kyle Larson drove his No. 5 Camaro ZL1 to his 29th career victory, sixth of the season, and second at the track. His Hendrick Motorsports team turned in a textbook performance to seal the win.

Kyle Larson scored his 29th career NASCAR Cup Series victory in the Bank of America ROVAL 400 on Sunday.

“This is probably the most difficult track out of the road courses for me,” Larson said. “I put in a lot of work this week; a lot of studying and a few hours in the sim. It’s cool to win here with Cliff [Daniels, crew chief]’s family and everybody’s family. Just a great day for the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevy team. Execution from start to finish was amazing.”

Larson and his Hendrick Motorsports teammates Chase Elliott and William Byron all advanced to the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs Round of 8 to continue their quest for the championship.

Sam Mayer (No. 1) on his way to victory in the Drive for the Cure 250 Presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.

In Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series contest, Sam Mayer triumphed in his JR Motorsports No. 1 Camaro SS to advance to the Round of 8 after a dramatic finish. He will continue to fight for the series title with his JR Motorsports teammates Justin Allgaier and Sammy Smith, along with fellow Bowtie drivers Austin Hill and Jesse Love of Richard Childress Racing and Kaulig Racing’s A.J. Allmendinger.

The BLOCK team was on-site for the weekend and captured both the on-track action and behind-the-scenes images from one of the most remarkable events of the year. An extensive photo gallery is below.
