The first full weekend of September means Holley LS Fest East at Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This year, participants and spectators alike enjoyed the first hints of changing leaves and chilly mornings while perusing off-road exhibitions, vendor pop-ups, a car show and numerous competitions.

LS Fest has only one qualifier for vehicle entrants: they must be powered by a GM LS or LT engine. Chevrolet Performance crate engines,* power plant swaps and mills built in garages or shops are all welcome. Vehicles on the grounds at Beech Bend this year were as diverse as a 1957 Bel Air and a 2017 Corvette Z06, and even a single-propeller plane that took off and landed on the park’s drag strip.

LS-powered drift cars slid throughout the weekend at Holley LS Fest East.

As a combination car show and competition, LS Fest East also featured drag racing, autocross and drift events throughout the weekend. Hundreds of builders, owners and drivers brought their vehicles to show off their engines’ impressive performance.

Beech Bend hosted record crowds for the event’s 15th year, and many participants remarked they were impressed by the sheer number of spectators. On Saturday, the grandstands along the drag strip and drift track were packed to the brim from open to close as hundreds of Chevrolet enthusiasts cheered on their favorite builds.

A wide variety of vehicles featuring LS and LT engines dotted the grounds at Beech Bend Park.

Awards for various show car categories – e.g., Best Paint Job, Best Interior, Best in Show – were presented Saturday evening as the busiest day of the show wound down. Sunday morning and early afternoon wrapped up the LS Fest East’s biggest year to date.

The 15th year of LS Fest East had the recipe for car show success: early fall weather, record-breaking crowds and an abundance of performance enthusiasts.
